DCC1 deals predominantly with the procurement of small-arms & light (detachable) vehicle mounted weapon systems, man portable assault systems and their ancillary equipment. The section is split up into 3 areas:

DCC1a is responsible for all special forces weapon procurement up to 40mm.

DCC1b is responsible for heavy machine gun (0.5'), cannon systems up to 30mm and vision enhancement and target acquisition systems such as thermal imaging and image intensifying.

DCC1c is responsible for small-arms procurement that deals with mainstream UK Armed Forces requirements. Current projects include SA80 update programme, Personal Defence Weapon (PDW) and both rifle launched and hand thrown grenades.
